For the longest time, I wanted to work for myself and get an online job that would allow me to work from home. I made this a reality last year when I quit my traditional job to run websites that I created on my own.
Now, my websites bring me well over six figures in revenue annually and I have a bunch of different online jobs. I’ve tried almost every side hustle under the sun, that’s why writing this article is easy. I speak from experience, and let’s just get right into the best online jobs I can think of.
28 Legitimate Online Jobs
I’ll share only ideas and some tidbits of information for you to get started. However, if you find an idea you like, run with it. There is so much information on the internet for you to learn and do any of these online jobs and get up and running by today.
Here’s the list of the best online jobs from home:
1. Product tester
Pay: $5 to $15 per hour
This Company Will Give You $100 for Opening a Free Account
Simply sign up for Aspiration, and the free banking app will give you cash for free, you just relax while it gives you $100 just for opening a new debit card. There’s no catch. This bank account is legit and only takes two minutes to sign up for an account.
Follow these simple steps to add a $100 bonus to your new account:
Being a product tester won’t make you filthy rich, it’ll actually pay a little less than minimum wage. However, it’s pretty simple to use sites like Survey Junkie or Branded Surveys that’ll line you up with products to test then you’ll be asked to fill out your thoughts with short surveys. You can get paid up to $4 per survey on average. So expect to make $5 to $15 per hour, and these sites pay on time via PayPal. Not a bad choice.
2. Online seller
Pay: $1,000+ a month
This is something I did while in high school and well into my college days. You can call it flipping, reselling, whatever you want. But what I did was purchase used iPhones off Amazon, then I would unlock them and resell them for higher on selling apps. I could easily bring in $1,000 in a month by doing this.
You don’t have to sell iPhones though, it can be anything. Flipping furniture, appliances, or even ticket reselling are some lucrative ideas you can try. And yes, you can actually do this full time and you won’t even need a traditional job.
Pay: $1 to $2,000+ per month
I mention that the pay starts at $1 because when you first create a blog you likely won’t make anything. It’s really easy to start a blog, you can do it with Bluehost in under 10 minutes and for under $20 bucks or so.
The caveat is that you have to bring in traffic in order to make any money. I’m currently a full time blogger but I’ve been doing it for around 5 years now. It wasn’t until the second year that I actually started making a ton of money where I could quit my day job. However, I started a new site three months ago and it’s already bringing me $500 a month.
So, it’s possible if you are really resourceful and read blogging start up guides and take advice from the experts. Nobody said it’ll be easy, but it’s possible to become a full-time blogger as your online job.
4. Facebook ads manager
Pay: $1,000 to $2,000+ per month
Another online job is becoming a Facebook ads manager. You’ll definitely need to know about PPC marketing and digital marketing in general. It’s not easy but if you put in the work to learn how its done, it’s possible to make over $2,000 per month.
Want To Earn Easy Money?
Here’s what I would do, I would start my own blog, add affiliate links within a well written landing page, and send Facebook ads to it to make money. The idea is to earn more money than you are spending in Facebook ads. It’s possible to do this, but not easy.
Another way you can make money with Facebook ads is to be a freelancer and look for small businesses looking for ad managers on sites like Upwork or Fiverr.
Pay: $10 to $36 per hour
You can also become a transcriber where you can listen to recorded or live audio files and convert them into text format. It’s easy with sites like TranscribeMe, GoTranscript, or Rev who pay you around $1.25 per audio minute transcribed. I don’t think you can make a career out of this, but it is an online job to help boost your earning potential.
Pay: $25 to $500+ per item sold
Dropshipping is a retail fulfillment method where you don’t keep the products you list for sale on your site. It’s a good idea (in theory) because there’s little risk since the upfront costs are so low.
In fact, Shopify (the best site to try this) offers a 14-day trial and you can use Oberlo (free) to find products to dropship from AliExpress.
I tried dropshipping but didn’t have much luck. I set up a free store on Shopify and called it GrindFitGear.com. I wanted to sell fitness products, and I made my store look really legit. Nobody bought anything. In hindsight, it was a difficult niche to pick, but maybe you’ll have better luck.
Online jobs for students
7. Online fitness coach
Pay: $200-500 per client/month
My ex-girlfriend did this and she really did make a killing. But it wasn’t easy, she had a pretty good following on Instagram (over 60K followers) and branded herself like a Gymshark fitness model (lol).
However, it did pay off as she could charge $300 to $500 for each client per month. So if you have 5 clients per month that’s potentially $2,500 you can make. It’s actually pretty easy to build a following on Instagram for this to work, however, you’ll need to be pretty good looking, in shape, and personable (just being honest). Plus, she got paid by fitness brands to promote their products and all the other benefits of becoming an ‘influencer’.
You don’t need to go down this route and can become an online fitness coach without all the bells and whistles, but it just makes it easier to find clients.
8. Online beauty advisor
Pay: Varies; depends on the referral program
You can work for sites like Avon and sell their products to make a living. It’s pretty straightforward, so if you wanted to this route I’m sure you can simply head over to sites like Avon to get more information and sign up.

Pay: $30 to $500+ per article

If you’re a student then you can easily become a textbook seller. You probably have a bunch of old textbooks lying around, don’t forget that you can get cash for these. Take them to your local campus textbook store or list them on Amazon. If you wanted to turn it into a business, you can buy textbooks for cheap from students and then flip on for more and profit the difference.
12. Social media manager
Pay: $15 to $40 per hour
You can find social media manager jobs on the regular job boards where you can find freelancing gigs. I would say it’s a pretty easy gig to get started with that isn’t really that difficult. It mainly is comprised of you be active on somebody else’s social media accounts and trying to build engagement with its followers. Expect to earn $15 to $40 per hour, on average. Tweet tweet!
Pay: 40% to 60% per item sold
This is a neat little side hustle idea. If you are good at selling stuff online then you can make a business of it. Odds are that your friends, family or coworkers have stuff that they don’t need and want to get rid of, but are too lazy (or busy) to list it and sell it.
So if you started a side hustle where you would take people’s items and sell it for them, you can earn 40% to 60% per item sold. It’ll require some trust from your close ones, but once you get it started it can be really profitable and high profit margins.
14. Data entry specialist
Pay: $10 to $17 per hour
This is another online job (boring one) but it can earn you some extra funds. You can find data entry jobs on sites like AccuTran Global, Axion Data Entry Services, Amazon’s Mechanical Turk, Capital Typing, Birch Creek Communications, ClickWorker, and more. Expect to earn $10 to $17 per hour for this very non creative job. But hey, it pays decent.

16. Virtual assistant
Pay: $19 to $25 per hour
Becoming a Virtual assistant is another freelancing gig that you can make your full time job. I actually need a virtual assistant to handle my emails, social media marketing, and other tasks that I don’t have time to do. I would easily pay a good VA around $20 per month, so you know this is a feasible gig. You can find VA gigs just by searching virtual assistant jobs on Google, there are so many. Then you can look for graphic design jobs and expect to make $25 to $50 per hour once you’re well into your career.
18. Niche website creator
Pay: $100 to $10,000+ per site
I kind of do this right now. I build and create niche websites and build them out to be profitable. That is actually what I’m doing right now with SeeResumes. As of today, I only have around 15 to 20 posts on this blog but I plan to write some more. I will then do normal blogging activity to get people to link out to me in hopes to make SeeResumes an authority job site.
Once it is, I’ll likely be making over $100 per month with this site and I can continue to grow it or sell it on sites like Flippa or Empire Flippers. Being a niche website creator isn’t easy, you have to about SEO, social media marketing, and everything else that comes with owning a website. However, if you teach yourself, it can be very lucrative.
19. Website designer
Pay: $20 to $100 per hour
You can also make a living by becoming a website designer. It’s actually pretty easy to create a website and just install a free theme and make it look really good. For example, the site right now may look legit, but it’s just a theme that I bought for $50 or so.
If you want to earn $100 per hour designing websites, you’ll actually have to know HTML and CSS and apply your design skills to the web. It’ll take some learning, but it can pay off big. Plus, it is such a cool and creative job, way better than doing data entry or taking boring online surveys (imo).
20. Social media influencer
Pay: $20 to $100 per hour
Remember my ex-girlfriend? She’s a social media influencer that earns money through brand sponsorships. Basically, companies will pay you to post stuff on your social media.
